My name is Valentin Petkov. I have been dealing with fitness since 1992, but at that time fitness and bodybuilding were not especially popular in Bulgaria. It was very difficult to find literature or other information on the subject-matter. At that time I got in the weights hall of Slavia. Later on I got also trained in the hall of Rumen Nikolov – Bidzhi. There, with the help of the people who helped me, I made serious progress.

Approximately at that time I had accepted a conviction, however, that the body may not develop its full potential without anything being added to it. Quite frequently convictions stop us from getting what we really may attain. During this time period I took steroids and hormones.

In 1997 due to the circumstances I left for South Africa where I started to deal in a specialized manner with fitness and bodybuilding. There I made my most serious progress up to that time.

Unlike in Bulgaria at that time, this kind of sports was exceptionally developed abroad. For the first time I saw world famous bodybuilding competitors live and started to think about participation in a competition.

I started to get educated, I completed the American course NFPT (National Federation of Professional Trainers) and started to train people professionally. I realized that the achievements are not the product of chance but the result of permanence of trainings and food.

After the experience and knowledge I accumulated, I made the decision that I would stop using steroids. I thought, however, that without them I would not be able to achieve any impressive results and the idea to start competing became rather remote. I lost faith and totally stopped training my own body … and thus for about a year. At that time I continued to work as a fitness coach and continued to study and gain experience.

Having acquired sufficient knowledge, in 1999, I still decided to start training simply for reasons of health. To my surprise, when I put in my entire experience and knowledge, things started to happen without steroids and other chemistry. Steroids and hormones as well as all the prohibited substances should multiply the effect and improve the achievements but the main effect comes from the way of living, eating and training. One should never get to the point of training without effect and the need of “chemistry” to obtain an effect. There should be an effect even without chemistry and for those who choose the latter, it only multiplies the effect.

I managed to attain not only exceptionally good physical shape but also started to lead a balanced and of full value way of living. At that time I lived and worked as a professional coach in England.

And so in 2002 I finally came back to Bulgaria. I graduated at Philosophical Department of Sofia University " St. Kliment Ohridski" – Bachelor degree of philosophical.

In 2008, I graduated at National Sports Academy “Vassil Levski ", Sofia - Master of Arts in Sport , Fitness and Health. Later, I certificated from Continental Organization of Registered Fitness Instructors and Teachers (CORFIT) as a personal trainer.

In the course of the years I managed to become a champion in all the categories of bodybuilding, bodybuilding men, classical bodybuilding, bodybuilding in pairs, body fitness men, fitness model and male physique, muscular male physique…
